El origen de la marca estadounidense UGG se remonta al sur de California en 1978. Fue fundada por el surfista australiano Brian Smith y su socio Doug Jensen, quienes tenían como objetivo proporcionar a los estadounidenses las cómodas botas de piel de oveja que estaban ampliamente disponibles en Australia. Desde entonces, la marca ha revolucionado el estilo del calzado de confort y ha utilizado materiales renovables, como caña de azúcar cultivada con agua de lluvia en lugar de EVA a base de petróleo.
